Evergreen Primary School

Welcome to our school, where we live by the motto "A small school with big results!" At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to our students. Our goal is simple: to provide each child with a top-notch education, where they not only succeed academically but also feel a sense of accomplishment and belonging. We prioritize creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment that encourages students to become confident and independent learners.

Our teachers are dedicated to offering personalized teaching and learning experiences that challenge students to think critically. Being a small school has its perks – it means every staff member knows every student. This close-knit community allows us to create a supportive learning environment that caters to each student's unique needs, interests, and abilities. Here at our school, we believe that even in a small setting, we can achieve big results by fostering a love for learning and unlocking the potential within each child.

Inaugurated on September 10, 1920, with an initial enrollment of twelve students, our school embarked on a journey that would define its legacy. Originally named "Maplewood Central," the school underwent a renaming in 1922, adopting the title "Evergreen Hills," symbolizing perpetual growth and learning.

Diving into the school's archives unveils captivating snippets from its early years. Among the inaugural projects of the founding committee was the establishment of a community garden, emphasizing a commitment to practical education. In the minutes of a 1921 meeting, a motion was passed to secure funding for the purchase of a Victrola phonograph to enhance the students' musical education.

The school faced its share of challenges. In 1925, a spirited debate unfolded in the committee meetings regarding the construction of a new wing, with passionate discussions on fundraising strategies dominating the agenda.

Noteworthy events from the school's social history include the formation of the "Harmony Club" in 1932, a group dedicated to fostering unity and camaraderie among students. The archives also reveal a charming tradition of Maypole dances during the annual Spring Festival, adding a touch of festivity to the academic calendar.

Throughout the years, Evergreen Hills School has witnessed numerous transformations, from the installation of the first computer lab in 1985 to the recent integration of sustainable practices into the curriculum. Today, as we stroll through the corridors, it's a testament to the evolving tapestry of education. If those founding students from 1920 could see the innovations and vibrant community that flourishes today, they'd witness a testament to the enduring spirit of Evergreen Hills School.
